Mac OS X Automation: Beginning Scripting, Automator, and Xcode - (Auto101)
In this 3-day course, you will develop a love for developer tools, using them to automate your workflow, WITHOUT becoming a full-blown programmer or scripter (who has the time?). This course empowers you to use Apple Developer Tools to solve your problems, whether you are a media developer, or a system administrator, or a power user who wants to automate OS X. You will learn basic, but powerful automation and scripting techniques that will launch you into the wonderful world of automation, allowing you to spend more time doing more important things in life.
We will focus on modifying and creating custom automations with Automator and AppleScript. We will also focus on Property Lists, the Defaults Preferences system, and launchd, underpinnings to automation. On day 3 we will focus on AppleScript Studio and Perl.
