Students should meet the following prerequisites:

Current Apple Portable Technician Certification (verified at beginning of course)
2. Practical, end-user experience with Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X
3. Experience with the use of service tools needed to take apart and reassemble hardware

Description
Apple Portable Service Lab is a two-day course that builds on the foundations laid by the Apple Portable Service Self-Paced Training program. It gives students who are already experts with Macintosh troubleshooting theory, tools and resources for identifying and resolving issues with Apple portable computers. Students learn Apple portable component isolation steps, take-apart procedures, and portable-specific service guidelines: everything needed to diagnose and repair Apple portable computers.
Hands-on lab exercises with PowerBook and iBook systems provide students with a variety of opportunities to become a Mac portable expert.

General Troubleshooting Theory Learn the Apple General Troubleshooting Flowchart, used to locate and fix computer problems. Practice quick fixes, split-half searches, and component isolation techniques.
Hardware Take-Apart Disassemble and reassemble PowerBook and iBook computers. Become familiar with their internal components. Discuss the function of each part, and how the parts interact with one another, including power flow, and troubleshooting common issues.
