Description
Apple Portable Service Certification Training is a five-day course that teaches students how to identify and resolve issues with Apple portable computers. Students learn Apple hardware specifications, troubleshooting techniques, component isolation steps, take-apart procedures, and general service guidelines and resources: everything they need to diagnose and repair Apple desktop computers.

A combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on lab exercises with PowerBook and iBook systems provides students with a variety of opportunities to become a Mac expert.

Troubleshooting References Access and use Apple online reference tools. Complete many hands-on exercises based on real-life hardware troubleshooting scenarios. Use Apple's Knowledge Base, Service Source, and Discussion Board. Become familiar with Service Source, Apple's reference Web portal, developed for service technicians and used by Apple Authorized Service Providers.
Troubleshooting Tools Understand Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X diagnostic tools and utilities. Learn the features and benefits of MacTest Pro, Apple Hardware Test, and TechTool Deluxe through hands-on practice.
General Troubleshooting Theory Learn the Apple General Troubleshooting Flowchart, used to locate and fix computer problems. Discuss and practice quick fixes, split-half searches, and component isolation techniques.
Electrostatic Discharge Follow the seven guidelines that reduce the risk of damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD), and learn the four essential components of an ESD-compliant workspace. Complete hands-on exercises that build your familiarity with ESD procedural guidelines.
LCD Theory of Operation Understand the features and functions of the nine layers making up LCDs, the light path through an LCD, and how millions of sub-pixels stimulate our perception of color.
